"The oneiric content of the paintings of Steve Ackerman place them on the very fringe of surrealism. The scenes derive from preconceived ideas, and develop with aesthetic consideration for colour harmonies and compositional balance. The themes are based on surrealist concepts of time and logic interspersed with associations and interpretations of recursive obsessions and memories painted in a fantasy of imaginative invention"

Semi nude lady with long flowing see through robes with skyscape, landscape, ruins of a church and enigmatic, surreal elements

As a  painting medium I like to use a mixture of oils, and turps and dissolve little chunks of amber into the mixture which adds a touch of varnish and helps to give the pictures a very smooth satin like sheen on the surface of the canvas..
I use a heavyweight studio easel made of beech wood and have a large selection of paintbrushes which are mostly made of sable..

I think that Salvador Dali was one of the best artists of the twentieth century. I have always admired his painting skills and his surrealist ideas and methods.. I also like the works of giorgio de Chirico and noticed that both he and Dali had similarities. One of the most impressive classical artists was Carravagio. His works are stunning. The most awe inspiring artistic techniques I have seen are the exquisite paintings of Vermeer. I can't think of any artist that could ever match his painting talents.
